My name is Tracie (Trae) McGovern and I am a former Matilda, former Underground Mines Rescue Squad Captain/First Response Medic and now the mother of 2 daughters and Founder/Director of The Australian Sportswoman.

I have two very personal reasons for joining the 2019 Leaders Leap  

1. I have worked very closely with rescue choppers and their medics during my time as an Underground Emergency Response Squad Captain so I'm well aware of the dedication of these crews and the importance of the service to the broader community.

 2. I spent some time at the Sydney Children's Hospital a few years back when my nephew was going through a bone marrow transplant and seeing the WRHS land would break my heart and fill me with deep sadness as I knew an extremely ill or severely injured child was inside. But after meeting a crew member here in Newcastle I have changed my perspective and now I feel happy when I see them fly overhead as I know these patients are now safe and in the best care.  

It's important for me to ensure people continue to support our Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, so over the coming months, I'll be doing my bit to educate and fundraise for such an amazing cause.
